Education Sessions
Solutions for Addressing Workforce Challenges
Lindsay Schwartz

Addressing workforce challenges is one of the biggest concerns for long term care providers, among many other professions. It isn’t only the question of “how do I reduce turnover?” but now “how do I find staff?” that keeps providers up at night.
Addressing these workforce challenges can be difficult but are key in providing quality care for your residents and thriving as an organization. A review of workforce shortage data will be presented, along with ideas from other providers and professions on best practices for reducing turnover, increasing retention, and
employee engagement.

AHCA/NCAL’s Solutions for Quality Care
Lindsay Schwartz

Unlock your assisted living community’s potential by taking advantage of your AHCA/NCAL membership. Use the association’s quality and data resources to implement quality improvement programs, pursue operational excellence and
enhance relationships with entities like hospitals, managed care organizations and other networks. This session will provide an overview of several key AHCA/NCAL member benefits, including LTC Trend Tracker, the Quality Initiative for Assisted
Living, and the AHCA/NCAL Quality Awards Program, as well as how these benefits work in tandem.

Trend Tracker from a User Perspective
Ann McMann

LTC Trend Tracker is the tool you need to ensure your organization stays on track. Monitor your progress on quality measures, Five-Star, AHCA/NCAL Quality Initiative goals, hospital readmission rates and more. Identify areas your organization should address in order to improve and set your own performance targets. Demonstrate your dedication to quality to your patients and residents with verifiable results. The
purpose of this presentation will be to gain working knowledge of Trend Tracker. Explore ideas on why an organization should use LTC Trend Tracker and to provide insight on what worked and did not work for your organizaion.

HFA & AFC Updates and Common Citations
Jay Calewarts

Jay Calewarts, Licensing Director for HFA and AFC will present an update on HFA and AFC administrative rules and statutes (laws). While rules and laws go through changes, providers are not always aware of the latest changes or the reasons they occur. Background check costs, exemption from licensure, license renewal costs are just a few examples of items that will be covered in this session. This is a great opportunity for Q&A on the issues providers are facing every day with renewal inspections as well as special investigations.

HR Speed Sessions
Linda Lawther

Linda Lawther will lead participants in a series of quick idea sharing in the area of recruitment and retention. These “TED style” presentations will give participants an opportunity to experience several options that could be implemented in their own settings. Participants will also have a chance to share their own ideas and best practices.
