Understanding the dynamics of violence in healthcare, situational awareness,and the importance of training.

DESCRIPTION
This program is aimed at leaders and their responsibility to ensure that education and training is provided regularly to new and existing employees. Participants will learn how to evaluate the workplace violence plan and its effectiveness. The goal is to create a culture of safety in the healthcare environment. Security is everyone’s responsibility and investing in employee and patient safety not only meets the requirements for OSHA, Joint Commission, CMS, and other accreditation organizations, it’s simply the right thing to do.

CONTACT HOURS
This program will provide participants the opportunity to earn up to one contact hour for licensed nursing home administrators. This program is appropriate for adult foster care providers and certified assisted living directors for one contact hour of professional development.

LEARNER OBJECTIVES

  1. Identify pre-incident behaviors where tactical de-escalation skills can reduce the potential for harm.
  2. Define situational awareness and understand the importance of personal safety.
  3. Identify the actions necessary to protect themselves and their patients during an active shooter event.


WEBINAR PARTICIPATION
Registration for this webinar includes the awarding of one (1) contact hour for the registered attendee only, however, all facility staff are welcome and encouraged to listen.

FACULTY
Carrie Kotecki, MSN, RN, is the Director of Emergency Preparedness for Compliance One Group. She trains nationwide on the topics of workplace violence, healthcare leadership and frontline staff training.

Her specialties include incident command training, emergency operations plans, process improvement strategies, ED Patient flow intiatives, and overall bed placement strategies.

Event Confirmation
After your registration form has been processed, an event confirmation will be emailed to your attention. Please be sure to include a current email address on this form. If you do not receive a confirmation within 14 business days, please contact Kisti via email at KistiBoatright@hcam.org.
Cancellation & Refund Policy
All refund requests must be made in writing by e-mail to KistiBoatright@hcam.org. Telephonecancellations will NOT be accepted. Individual registration fees, less a 25% processing fee, will be refunded for cancellations received in writing prior to Mar. 29. Cancellations received after Mar. 29 and no-show registrants, will not receive a refund nor a credit to a future program.
Substitutions
Individuals registered to attend this program, but unable to participate, may send an alternate in their place. Please contact Kisti at KistiBoatright@hcam.org with the first and last name, title, and facility/company of both the original registrant and the alternate to process this request.
Consent to Use of Recording
